Story bags are used as a fascinating visuals to captivate the attention of
your audience. No one is surprised when you turn the bag inside out, but
then when you do it again and again, they are baffled. The mixture of prints and solids make this bag especially
memorable. This story bag is used to illustrate that God, the Divine
Creator, made everything, including the people in your class.

outside of the bag)
Maybe you’ve heard the dark,
tall tale that every living thing simply
evolved. The theory of evolution is only someone's idea to explain how the species
arrived as it is today. When I really want to know what happened, I
want to talk to someone with a first hand report. The story I am about
to tell you today is a first hand report as told to us by someone that
was actually on the scene when the world was made. Our storyteller has
never told a lie, so you can rest assured the story as recorded in
scripture is factual.
In
the beginning, God created the heaven and
the earth. The earth looked very different than it does now. The Bible
says the earth was without shape or form. (Wad the bag.) Everything was
dark--pitch dark—I mean dark-dark!
God
said, “Let there be light.” And there was light. Then he separated the
light from the dark. That was the first day.
(Turn
the bag into to the next color. ) The second day God said, “Let
there be a sky in the midst of the waters.” God didn’t have to take
his hands and do anything. His word is that powerful. God spoke and it
happen exactly as He said.
(Turn
the bag into to the next color.) The third day, God
spoke and there was dry land. Then he spoke again and there was grass, and
vegetables and fruits, and trees. Each of them contained seeds so they
could reproduce themselves.
(Turn
the bag into to the next color. Stars) On the fourth day God said, “Let
there be lights in the heavens.” God made the sun, the moon and the
stars.
(Turn
the bag into to the next color. ) The fifth day God said,
“Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that have
life, and birds that may fly above the earth.” And it happened exactly
as God said.
(Turn
the bag into to the next color. ) On the sixth day God
said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind.”
Just a simple commandment from the mouth of God and all the creatures
living on land were made.
(It
would add to the presentation, put a small lump of clay in a plastic bag
and put it in the pocket. Be sure you put it there before the
presentation. When you remove the clay, leave the plastic in the pocket.)
But God didn’t stop creation with the trees, flowers, birds, fish or
animals. He had saved the very best for last. I can’t find where God
spoke this creation into existence instead He said, “Let us make man in
our image.” If I understand the scriptures, God stooped over and scooped
up some dirt. Then he shaped and formed it. (Shape and form the clay as
you speak.) Then God breathed life into that piece of dirt to form the
very first man. God named that first man Adam.
On
the seventh day God rested. God’s creation was complete.
Now
why would I spend all this time telling you a story that happened such a
long, long time ago? Because it is very important that you understand that
you didn’t just evolve. You are not an accident. You didn’t just
happen as part of a random process. God planned you before you were born.
God saw you while you were still inside your mother’s body. He loves you
and He has a special plan for your life. Without that knowledge your life
will no purpose, with that knowledge you know the divine creator loves you
and wants to have a friendship with you. That knowledge changes
everything.
Now
let’s review. Begin with the seventh day and go backward showing each
color of the bag.
The
first day was a burst of light. God divide the light
from the darkness.
Day
two God spoke and made the water and sky so blue.
Day
three, he made dry land, flowers, plants and even the mightiest
tree.
Day
four, he spoke and the sun, the moon and the stars appeared by
the score.
Day
five, God spoke and birds to fly and fish to splash and dive.
Day
six, God spoke animals into existence. Man was made from a
different mix. God formed him from the dust and breathed life
into him.
Day
seven, God rested. It’s a day to turn your heart toward heaven.
