Puppeteering
can be for the birds! Especially when they are as cute as these little guys.
They have a built in squawker, so you can use them without having to come up
with a voice. They have legs, so you don't even need a stage. Sit them on
your hand and let them squawk. Act like you know what they are saying, by
interpreting the squawk for the class. You can do an entire dialogue with
them this way. The mouths work great and they are really fun to use.
Or remove the squawker and use them for to perform your favorite songs.
Select the songs according to the taste of your audience. I recommend Jim
Wideman's Puppet Trax Vol. 5.
"I'll Fly Away" is perfect
for bird puppets.
We use two bird puppets in our Ten Commandment series called
"God's Lawz for Kidz" This curriculum teaches children how to walk out
these principals in their everyday life. Each lesson contains a skit using
Can Not and Can Tu. Can Not is convinced that he can not keep the Ten
Commandments and Can Tu is convinced he can. Fun skits for church, outreach,
family devotions or Home School.
