Wow your audience with these
delightful soft sculpture puppets. Developing a great personality and a
great program is much easier when you have puppets with this much pizzazz!
Use them to mime songs or to interact with your audience.
These puppets are light enough to
use behind the puppet stage or they can be used as ventriloquist figures
or with pre-recorded songs or skits. These puppets are especially
effective when used as actors in full view of your audience in the style
of the ancient Bunraku Puppetry. In the Bunraku form of puppetry, the
puppeteer is in full view of the audience. Often the puppeteer chooses to
wear black clothing and sometimes a black hood, but occasionally the
puppeteer is dressed in regular street attire. The entire performance is
done with the puppeteer and the puppet in full view of the audience.
In this puppetry form the emphasis is on making the entire puppet come
alive. The puppet is often standing on a table with the puppeteer beside
the puppet. The puppet becomes a live actor in front of the stage, with an
emphasis on moving more than just the mouth. Sometimes two
puppeteers are needed; one to move the mouth and hands; the other the
feet.
That is why these puppets work so
well for Bunraku Puppetry, the amazing detail can be seen in larger
audiences and the full bodied puppet complete with toes and sandals that
are so realistic. Each puppet arrives with one rod, but you would need to
scrounge up some more rods to attach to the feet and second arm to get
this kind of mobility. But even one puppeteer can get some amazing
movements with practice.
