Why bother reaching outside your church? We all know the trouble kids can be that have not been trained how to act in church. Some churches refuse to reach outside their church because they don’t want their church messed up. So why bother?

1. We have a mandate from God. Matthew 28:19,20

2. Every child has a right to hear that God loves them John 3:16

3. Because there really is a hell to shun and a heaven to gain

4. Because this generation needs hope and purpose.

Let’s Go Fishing!

Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." We cannot have God’s heart without a desire to reach hurting people. Touching the lost was the purpose of Jesus and it should be ours, but how do we follow Jesus? Simply-- do what Jesus did.

· Have a right relationship with your heavenly Father.

· Obey His word

· Be a person of prayer and Bible study

If you want to catch fish you need:

· good tools

· the right bait

· to go where the fish are

Trained workers with a vision for outreach

I can’t overemphasis the importance of training. Taco Bell spends more time training employees how to put together a tacos than we do how to impact lives for all eternity. Workers need to how to lead children to Christ

· Background check on all workers

· Good curriculum

· Good people skills

What do kids like?

What draws kids?

What does McDonald do to draw kids?

What does Sesame Street do that has made them such a success?

What needs can you fill?

Ask the kids

Go where the kids are.

Where are the Kids? Do you go fishing in the flower bed? Do you fish in the baptistery? Do you wait for the fish to come to you? Then why wait for the kids to come to you. Go where the kids are!

Get outside your church.

q Have a VBS at a Day Care, Activity Center or in a low income neighborhood.

Advertise. Advertise. Advertise!!!

Plan an awesome program

Offer a great prize for the child that brings the most.

q Have your own parade. Join parades in the area.

q Have outreach programs in parks and give out flyers.

q Meet an existing need. Get involved in a reading program at the local school. Assist in a head start program.

q Puppets & clowns open doors. Put together an awesome program and go into day cares, schools & hospitals with your program.
