Teaching
Values in Children's Church
Fun is an essential ingredient in every children's
church, but it is not the only ingredient. We must move beyond having a
circus to a Jesus filled service. That is a two fold experience.
Children need to be equipped with a solid Biblical foundation and
encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Jesus. Neither of
these goals can be accomplished without making them a priority and
purposefully planning toward these goals.
Solid, creative Bible teaching must be a part of your
children's church if children are going to have the values that should be their
life foundation.
A public school teacher caught several students cheating on a
Math test. She was extremely upset and began to reprimand the students when one
student raised his hand. "What's the big deal?" he asked.
I
repeat the question to you? "What's the big deal?" Are values
really important? Is the erosion of our society enough for us to get on our
knees to call on Heaven to help us impact this generation? Is the erosion of
values enough to draw us back to teaching foundational truths like the Ten
Commandments?
If we want to help children have Biblical values the core of their being then they must be taught
in such a way that children understand them and grasp their importance. That
means teaching scripture, its principals and stories that have been saturated in
prayer. It takes more than good speaking skills to effect life change. Life
change takes place by changing the way they think and what they believe. It
takes scripture to change their belief system and the Holy Spirit as the
catalyst of change.

Help children learn the importance of the
Ten
Commandments and how to put them into practice in their everyday life.
Great for ages 6-11.
